Bayern Munich wants Liverpool to take Thiago’s move into account for Sadio Mane transfer
According to BILD (h/t Daily Express), Bayern Munich could use the incentive of Thiago Alcantara’s move to Anfield as a weapon to push Liverpool to decrease the asking price for Sadio Mane.
The Senegalese ace has given a top-notch performance for Liverpool in the recent campaign. His 23 goals and five assists in 53 appearances across all competitions have helped the Reds win some crucial matches and eventually secure both the FA Cup and the Carabao Cup.
The 30-year-old’s contract with the Reds expires next summer. In the pre-match press conference of the Champions League final, he responded to these speculations by saying that he would communicate his final decision after the final.
Even though the striker hasn’t spoken about his future until now, the transfer battle regarding his possession has intensified in the last couple of hours. Bayern Munich continues to remain the most interested party, but they want Liverpool to drop their £42.5million price tag.
The Bavarian giants are hoping that the Reds will accept around £34m which is a much more reasonable price point from their point of view. Die Rotten wants Jurgen Klopp’s team to take into account how seamlessly they engineered Thiago’s move in 2020. They want the same cooperation from the Reds regarding Mane’s transfer and any rejection might influence future relations.
Should Liverpool let Mane leave?
Mane has been a loyal servant of the club for several seasons. His immense contributions have laid the foundations for Jurgen Klopp’s success at Anfield. Mane is already a Liverpool legend and replacing him will not be an easy task.
However, it seems the time has come when Liverpool have to bid farewell to the 30-year-old. If he desires a new challenge away from the club, there’s no point in keeping him and it might hurt the beautiful relationship between the club and the player.

However, the Reds should also look to secure the highest package possible from Mane. Unlike Thiago, Mane brings with him a guaranteed return of goals and assists and could help them ease the potential loss of Robert Lewandowski,
But they should also remember that risking business relations with such a big club wouldn’t be a great idea. That’s why the Liverpool board have to negotiate smartly and find a solution that would be advantageous for both parties.
