Transfer News: Why Sadio Mane wants to Liverpool for Bayern Munich instead of PSG and Real Madrid

According to journalist @DaveOCKOP on Twitter (h/t Daily Star), Liverpool star Sadio Mane has agreed on a three-year contract to join Bayern Munich this summer.

Daily Star adds that Mane has apparent interest from Paris Saint-Germain and Real Madrid. However, he wants a move to the Allianz Arena in order to be the ‘star man’.

If that is the case, then Bayern does seem like a wise choice. Los Blancos already have Karim Benzema and Vinicius Jr spearheading their frontline, while PSG’s riches in attack are there for all to see.

You don’t really have much spotlight if you join a team with the likes of Kylian Mbappe, Neymar Jr, and Lionel Messi. Bayern, meanwhile, could lose Robert Lewandowski with the Polish striker publicly revealing he wants to leave the club.

Mane off to Bayern?

The former Borussia Dortmund was their star striker and scored goals for fun at a sublime rate. But if the 33-year-old leaves, then the Senegalese star has a chance to become Bayern’s number one man up front.

But all of this comes as a hammer blow for LFC fans. The Reds are now in line to lose their star winger who has shouldered much of our attacking burden in the second half of the season.

He is the signing that really kick-started Jurgen Klopp’s era at Anfield and alongside Mohamed Salah, remains the face of our attack. We did sign Luis Diaz in January but Mane’s quality and versatility saw him play as a centre-forward rather than making way for the Colombian international.

Thus, there could be a chance that Mane transforms himself into a number nine akin to what Cristiano Ronaldo did at Juventus and Manchester United. This means any move for Lewa that sees him leave Bayern could open up a space for Mane in their attack.

Even if it doesn’t, he is more than good enough to make one of the positions down their flanks his own.
