La Liga giants make promise to Liverpool star if he runs down his contract

LFC Transfer News: Barcelona promise Mohamed Salah a place in their team next summer if he runs down Liverpool contract

According to the Mirror, Barcelona have promised Liverpool star, Mohamed Salah, a place in their new-look starting XI next summer if he runs down his current contract.

The Egyptian superstar is on a deal that expires next summer, which has put the Reds in a precarious position. They now stand a serious chance to lose one of their greatest ever players for nothing.

Xavi Hernandez has come in and stabilised the ship at Camp Nou. The Spaniard now wants to start a revolution in Barca with a new-look team in the space of a year.

The Catalan giants have apparently been linked with a move for Ruben Neves of Wolves and Bayern Munich’s Robert Lewandowski. And they have apparently promised Mo Salah a place in their team next season if he runs down his deal at Anfield.

Salah to Barca?

Salah turns 30 this month but despite his age, continues to be a force of nature in our attack. He has had his fair share of ups and downs this season, but there is no denying that the Egyptian star is world-class.

Having shared the Golden Boot in the Premier League with Son Heung-min and winning the Playmaker Award, Salah is right up there with the very best attackers on the globe right now. Losing him would be a hammer blow to the Reds.

No player is bigger than the club, but losing Salah would bring back memories of when the club sold Fernando Torres and Luis Suarez. Fans would have thought that under Klopp, the days where our best players left us for ‘bigger clubs’ would come to an end.

And barring Philippe Coutinho, the Reds haven’t really lost a megastar in their prime to another team under the German. Gone are the days when La Liga giants could take players such as Suarez, Javier Mascherano, Xabi Alonso, and Alvaro Arbeloa off our hands with relative ease.

But if Salah goes, that too after showing no signs of slowing down on Merseyside, it would raise worries if the club has what it takes to hold onto its best players when other big clubs come calling.
