Klopp tasks Julian Ward with finding Liverpool’s next big signing with four specific qualities

Jurgen Klopp tells Julian Ward four qualities he wants in next big signing Liverpool make

According to the Mirror, Jurgen Klopp has briefed Julian Ward regarding the qualities he is looking for in Liverpool’s next big signing.

The Reds have brought in Darwin Nunez and Fabio Carvalho this summer, while Calvin Ramsay looks all set to join the Anfield outfit. But apart from the trio, Liverpool are unlikely to pursue another player this summer.

Keeping this in mind, Klopp has told Ward that he wants Liverpool’s next big capture to be ‘a young, multi-functional operator with technique and athleticism in equal abundance’. That goes hand-in-hand with the German’s approach over the years.

Those who watch Jude Bellingham play for England and Borussia Dortmund would agree that he ticks these boxes. And if Jurgen wants these four qualities to be present in our next big signing, it better be a midfielder.

What next for LFC?

That is the only area of the squad our fans would argue needs urgent strengthening. Jordan Henderson and Thiago Alcantara, as dependable as they are in and out of possession, are not getting younger.

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain looks far removed from first-team action while James Milner is getting closer to retirement. Amidst this, the Reds could use a young, world-class player to play in central midfield for the next few years- if not more.

Versatility is something that Klopp values a lot. A midfielder who can play as a number eight, as a defensive midfielder or even just behind the striker is never a bane for any manager to have.

Whether that is Bellingham or someone else is anyone’s guess. Nevertheless, it is probably smart to wait for the player the team wants to get- be it next year.

More Liverpool News:

Then again, Mohamed Salah and Virgil van Dijk would be a year older by then while our competitors would also have the chance to gain some ground over that period. Klopp isn’t going to be here forever as well so it is best we don’t remain too patient when it comes to making big signings.
