Liverpool confirm third signing this summer; his new shirt number revealed

Transfer News: Liverpool announce Calvin Ramsay signing; new shirt number and Jurgen Klopp’s plans revealed

Calvin Ramsay is finally a Liverpool player, as confirmed by the Reds. The club has officially announced the arrival of the youngster from Aberdeen, making him our third signing this summer.

Darwin Nunez and Fabio Carvalho have already joined us ahead of the next season, and 18-year-old Ramsay becomes the latest addition to Jurgen Klopp’s squad. Liverpool have agreed on a deal worth £6.5million including add-ons.

£4million is expected to be the initial fee, with the remainder being paid once Ramsay fulfils some performance-related quotas. Having only played in Scotland, one could ask why the Reds splashed the cash on him this summer.

But it seems that Klopp has a plan in place for him. Ramsay is expected to join the first team for pre-season so he can be properly assessed by the club’s coaches.

He will wear the number 22 shirt for us. The number was last worn by Loris Karius, who has not been retained by the Reds for the next season.

Big day for the Scotsman

Neco Williams, who was out on loan at Fulham, may not be content with being backup to Trent Alexander-Arnold. He was loaned out last year and could be out this summer once again.

This is one signing that could be an important one for the club in the long run. Between Joe Gomez getting accustomed to being a regular centre-back and Williams eyeing regular playing time elsewhere, the Reds were left with no real natural backup for TAA.

Liverpool reach an agreement with Aberdeen FC for Calvin Ramsay.

Ramsay, with his age and relative inexperience, would perhaps be open to being Trent’s understudy. That is certainly not a shabby role for a youngster- back number two to one of the world’s finest full-backs.

More Liverpool News:

It remains to be seen if the Reds add a fourth signing this summer. The feeling is that they won’t. If that is the case, then it isn’t a poor window by any means, considering Luis Diaz’s welcome addition in January/
