Liverpool tell Fulham and Nottingham Forest target Neco Williams he is free to leave on loan with World Cup in mind

According to the Mirror, Liverpool have told Neco Williams that he is free to join another team on loan this summer, keeping in mind the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.

International managers can give preference to players who play regularly for their club- something that will prove to be impossible for Neco at LFC right now. Trent Alexander-Arnold has a chokehold on that right-back position at the moment.

That was perhaps the reason he was sent out on loan to Fulham in the latest campaign. The Cottagers along with fellow Premier League newboys Nottingham Forest are interested

And that only makes sense. If not a permanent move, then a loan deal seems like an ideal option for a 21-year-old full-back whose best is yet to come.

Neco to stay in PL?

He is a smart attacking right-back and while he can be caught out at the back at times, he has what it takes to develop into a quality player. Perhaps the Reds would be wise to send him out on loan and properly assess his true potential before making a call on his future.

Then again, it is important to understand what the Wales international would want for himself. Trent is young and he is one of the best in the world in his position.

Unless there is a miracle, no one can displace him from that position for at least the next few years under Jurgen Klopp- if not longer. If Neco can accept that, then great.

Otherwise, it is best to let him go out permanently- granted the offer is right. Wales go to the FIFA World Cup with great hopes this year, and Neco is expected to start for Rob Page’s side.

He would hate to lose such a prestigious spot in his country’s team because of a lack of gametime, and joining a new team this summer would be in his best interest. Whether that happens on a temporary or a permanent basis- if it happens at all- remains to be seen.
