“I don’t accept that”- Jurgen Klopp gives his verdict as Liverpool confirm another exit

Transfer News: Liverpool confirm Takumi Minamo has joined AS Monaco, Jurgen Klopp gives verdict

Liverpool FC have confirmed on their official website that Takumi Minamino is now officially an AS Monaco player. Finally, a team where the Japanese star may get some more playing time!

His treatment at LFC was, in all honesty, pretty poor. Taki rarely featured in games of importance and Jurgen Klopp preferred to play the former RB Salzburg player in the starting stages of the FA Cup and the EFL Cup.

Perhaps, that can change at Stade Louis II. Nevertheless, Liverpool are one more attacker short going into the next season, with Divock Origi and Sadio Mane

already departing Anfield this summer.

As expected, comments from Jurgen Klopp were ready for publishing as soon as the deal was announced by the club’s official website. The German manager, who brought Minamino from Austria to England, says:

“I’m sure there will be those who think it didn’t quite work out. Those who think this are wrong. I don’t accept that.”

Minamino’s attitude was always sublime. Having joined the Merseysiders, he was ready to give it his all whenever called upon, and Jurgen appreciates that.

“His contribution far outweighs the opportunities we were able to give, in terms of starting matches. He made us better each and every day he was with us – not just in the games he played in but every single session in training. Perfect attitude, winner’s mentality.”

Klopp’s comments, which can be read on the LFC website in their entirety, sum up what a delight it was to have a player like Taki at our club. As Klopp said, his move to Anfield wasn’t a failure.

As much as he believes that he didn’t deserve it, Minamino has a Premier League winner’s medal in his kitty. He also played a big part in us winning two domestic cups in the latest season and that is a big achievement.

Compare that to an icon like Fernando Torres, who left LFC without winning a single trophy with us. More importantly, he contributed to it and will always be fondly remembered by our fans for all the right reasons.

All the best to Taki in France, who, for our fans, will always remain a Red no matter where he goes. The Reds, meanwhile, get £15.5million richer- or at least they will be if the add-ons are met.
