Liverpool stand firm on their valuation, reject opening bid for in-demand defender

Transfer News: Liverpool reject opening bid from Nottingham Forest for defender Neco Williams

As per the Daily Mail, Liverpool have rejected an opening bid from Nottingham Forest for their in-demand right-back, Neco Williams.

The 21-year-old defender has been valued at £15million by the Reds, who seem intent on seeing that price tag met if Neco is to leave Anfield this summer. The Tricky Trees’ bid apparently fell short of that mark.

There is no shortage of interest in Williams, who spent the second half of last season at Fulham. The Cottagers, along with PSV Eindhoven and Southampton, are keen on getting his services.

Fulham, however, have been looking elsewhere in case they don’t land their main target in the LFC full-back. Kevin Mbabu and Djibril Sidibe are two names

that have been linked with Marco Silva’s team.

Williams a man in demand

Williams is 21 and already an important part of Robert Page’s Wales side. He would surely be on the plane that travels to Qatar for the FIFA World Cup in a few months’ time.

But in order to be a fixed starter for the Dragons, playing regular football at the club level would go a long way in helping him achieve that. At LFC, he simply cannot have that- not right now, at least.

Trent Alexander-Arnold is our undisputed choice down that flank and Williams, in all honesty, isn’t a finished product. He still needs to work on the defensive side of things but with experience, he can be a top-quality full-back one day.

The Reds also seem to trust Calvin Ramsay when it comes to providing backup to TAA in the near future. That only makes sense after the Reds agreed to spend £6.5million including add-ons on him this summer.

More Liverpool News:

Hopefully, Forest or any other interested team comes with a better bid. It would be best for both parties to part ways at the earliest and the Reds, in the process, can pocket a healthy amount for one of their academy graduates.
