Liverpool ‘unlikely’ to be put off by humongous fee for in-demand English talent

Liverpool may not be put off by huge price tag placed on Jude Bellingham by Borussia Dortmund

According to James Pearce of the Athletic (Subscription Required) [h/t Liverpool Echo], Liverpool are ‘unlikely’ to be put off by the large price tag placed on Jude Bellingham.

The Borussia Dortmund midfielder has been linked with a move to the Reds but the Black and Yellow want a huge fee for their teenage talent. A move this summer seems next to impossible.

But the Reds are not scared of competing for the teenager’s signature next year in the summer of 2023. That certainly comes as music to the ears of LFC fans.

BVB apparently want £103million for the teenage talent that they signed from Birmingham City. That is, of course, a massive price tag that even the richest clubs in the world would think twice about before paying up.

Saving the cash?

But it seems that the Reds could be up for the task to put the money where their mouth is. This summer, Liverpool have sold Sadio Mane and brought in Darwin Nunez.

Takumi Minamino has also left for AS Monaco while Divock Origi and Loris Karius are amongst a few names that have been taken off our wage books. It has been a financially astute window from Julian Ward and co so far.

Even Darwin Nunez’s fee isn’t all that exorbitant given the Reds would pay £64.2million– with the other £21.5million to come in add-ons. It seems that we are saving our budget for when it matters most.

Bellingham could be a player as important as Virgil van Dijk and Alisson Becker for us in the future. And such players rarely come cheap. The Reds paid big bucks

for both of them- and it proved out to be one of the best decisions we have made in a while.

Liverpool seemingly know that and hopefully, we see Jude at Anfield during the 2023/24 season.
