Jurgen Klopp takes hilarious dig at Manchester United after Liverpool land in Thailand
Liverpool have landed in Thailand for their pre-season tour, and Jurgen Klopp has already warmed up to the fans there by making a sly dig at Manchester United.
After speaking to reporters shortly after touchdown (h/t Liverpool Echo), the German manager asked if the same when Manchester United landed yesterday. The Reds were greeted with a raucous reception from our fans stationed outside the Bangkok airport.
“First question I have. Did it look like this here yesterday when Manchester was here as well?”
The video shown in the tweet below shows the reception our team had when they arrived. It’s hard to say if Man Utd got a similar greeting when they landed on Saturday.
The two clubs are, of course, set to play each other in a pre-season friendly at the Rajamangala Stadium on 12th June. A game against Crystal Palace follows in Singapore three days later, with a game against RB Leipzig on 21st June.
The pre-season friendlies end with RB Salzburg before the Community Shield gets the season underway. The Reds will face Manchester City at the King Power Stadium.
Man United will not be featuring the enigmatic Cristiano Ronaldo in the game the day after tomorrow. The Portuguese would have drawn an extra crowd but any time LFC are touring, it’s not like they need any added gimmicks to boost attendances.
