Nat Phillips highlights his aim for pre-season with Liverpool amidst transfer links to Bournemouth
Speaking in an interview to Liverpoolfc.com (h/t Liverpool Echo) while on the pre-season tour with Liverpool, Nat Phillips explained what he wants in the coming weeks before the campaign gets underway.
The English defender went out on loan for the second half of last season to help Bournemouth win promotion to the Premier League. He has now been linked with another exit with the club- be it on a permanent or a temporary basis.
The Cherries have been named as a potential destination but nothing is certain. His future at LFC, at least right now, seems secure with the player having travelled to Thailand with the rest of his teammates.
Speaking about his time at Bournemouth, Phillips recalled it fondly and explained the joy he experienced at achieving the collective target back in May.
“I really enjoyed it. I enjoyed getting back on the pitch regularly again, I think that was important for me. It was nice to go in there with that goal of promotion and to achieve it at the end of the season.”
Phillips has now highlighted that he wants to use the upcoming games as a way to showcase what he is all about. Jurgen Klopp would certainly be keeping an eye on who can impress him during this time.
“[Playing regularly] is what all players want to do and obviously, I had to go away to go and do that. I enjoyed it…”
What next for Phillips?
“Every pre-season is an opportunity for all players, young and old, to show what they can do, stake their claim. That’s the way you’ve got to approach it and maintain high levels throughout the pre-season going into the season..”
There is no real need for the 25-year-old Englishman in our team- not unless another injury crisis like the 2020/21 season came upon us.
Neco Williams has today sealed a move to Nottingham Forest. The 21-year-old can expect regular playing time in one of the finest leagues in the world.

Perhaps, Phillips should be looking to do the same. Pre-season is a good way to impress the gaffer or any other potential suitor that may be keeping an eye on you for a move.
