Jurgen Klopp says he will use Sadio Mane’s Liverpool departure as an “example”

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp was inspired by Sadio Mane’s way of handling his departure

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp was full of praise for the former striker, Sadio Mane‘s way of dealing with his transfer to German giants, Bayern Munich. The Senegalese was an absolute top-class player for the Reds for the past six years.

The 30-year-old joined the Anfield side in a £34 million move from league rivals, Southampton in 2016. Since then, the attacker has gone on to feature in 269 games and has scored a mammoth total of 120 goals and 48 assists. Such was his rhythm that the German manager admitted the fact that the club would miss him as a player and as a person.

In his illustrious career, Sadio Mane had a good relationship with the manager and his teammates. However, the African star wanted to experience a fresh challenge and it wouldn’t have been any better than having to face it at Bayern. The German side brought him to the Allianz arena in a £35million move and the striker penned a three-year deal to commit himself to the service of the Bavarian giants.

Jurgen Klopp was full of praise for Sadio Mane’s fitness level and the way the striker handled his transfer by giving the club optimum time to find a replacement. He went on to say that such transfers would be looked upon as an ideal way of leaving Anfield. According to The Daily Mail, the manager said:

“Bayern have a really good player and we had him for six years so that is fine and all showed that these kinds of transfers can work. I will use it in the future as an example. It is completely that sometimes in relationships there are changes needed.  In this case Sadio wanted (to move) and we reacted and we try to make the best of it.”

Sadio Mane has been consistent for the Reds ever since he stepped foot at Anfield. With the level of fitness maintained by the player for years, it wouldn’t be surprising to see the 30-year-old play six to seven years from now. Bayern Munich would have a world-class player to guide their attack and they would thank the Reds for their sacrifice.

The Senegalese striker has won accolades last season by lifting two trophies with Liverpool and also making his country proud by guiding them to be the African Champions. The power striker won the Africa player of the year award for winning the African Cup of Nations and helping his country reach the World Cup.

Mohamed Salah finished just behind Mane but he would be proud of his former teammate’s achievements. The Anfield crowd would miss the demolition of the famous and one of the most potent front three consisting of Salah, Mane and Firmino.

But the striker would always be a legend for a club where he never failed to mesmerize the fans with his eye-catching performances. Bayern would expect that the 30-year-old would now use his bag of experience in helping the German side reach the pinnacle of world football.
