Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp pleased with his team’s progress in the training camp
Over the past week, Liverpool have adapted to the demanding practices and luxurious relaxation in the comfortable surroundings of Saalfelden, Austria.
It has become a mainstay of the Reds’ preseason, with manager, Jurgen Klopp and his staff utilizing the modern facilities and serene surroundings to get the players ready for the upcoming season.
The Reds’ will now face Bundesliga side, RB Salzburg in Austria following matches against Manchester United and Crystal Palace in Asia and a huge victory over RB Leipzig in Germany.
The Anfield side will not be playing Salzburg for the first time on Wednesday as they have already faced them four times before this match. The two teams previously squared off in a pre-season friendly at the same venue in 2020 where they were able to register a 2-2 draw.
It would be safe to say that the grueling preseason training designed by Jurgen and his staff would be intended to test their players’ limits and give them a chance to form a strong base ahead of the new season.
However, Jurgen Klopp has stated that he is happy with the progress that have been made so far by his team in the preseason period. Speaking to the club’s official website, the German manager said:
“Very, very much. In pretty much all departments, on and off the pitch. It was exactly what we wanted after the intense period in Asia, which was good as well, but different obviously.”
“Then the few days at the AXA we used quite well, coming here [we] did exactly what we wanted to do and so far, so good – cannot complain about anything.”
It has been a shortened preseason for Liverpool because the previous season ended with the Champions League final and the next one begins early because of the midseason World Cup.
LFC started off the pre-season in poor fashion with a 4-0 loss against Manchester United in Thailand but turned things around in a 2-0 win against Crystal Palace in Singapore.
The Reds would be expected to depart from Salzburg on Wednesday night and travel immediately back to Merseyside following a short tour of Asia and the training camp in Austria. In preparation for the Community Shield, Klopp will then start training his team for the tough match against Manchester City.
Last season, Klopp’s team came very close to winning a historical quadruple. Liverpool finished as runners-up in both the Premier League and the Champions League in what was nevertheless an outstanding campaign after winning both the Carabao Cup and the FA Cup.
