Bayern Munich star Thomas Muller would love to be a Liverpool supporter
Over the years, the Anfield stadium has been renowned for its passion, voice, and intensity as clubs fear to play in front of the energetic Liverpool supporters. The Kop, one of the biggest single-tier stands in the world, is home to the loudest and most ardent home fans, known as Kopites.
And now the Reds have got a new supporter on their bucket list thanks to their passionate fans. Bayern Munich midfielder Thomas Muller has revealed that he would love to stand as a supporter at Anfield Road if he ever gets the chance.
Speaking in an interview with ESPN via Twitter, the German midfielder said:
“I love to watch Manchester City, but when i want to be a supporter, maybe i want to be in the stands of Anfield.”
Talking about Thomas Muller, the most interesting aspect would be that although the German midfielder and Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp were fierce opponents while the latter was in charge of Mainz and Borussia Dortmund in the Bundesliga.
They had some historic clashes in the Bundesliga, DFB-Pokal, and even the 2013 Champions League final, which Bayern won. Klopp’s most recent victory over Muller came in the 2018/19 UEFA Champions League last 16 tie (second leg) at the Allianz Arena.
There would be a very small chance that the two would ever work together before they eventually decide to retire from their role. The midfielder has already signed a new two-year contract with the Bundesliga champions to keep him at the club until 2024, and he will have to settle for being just a supporter.
The Bundesliga champions are now touring the United States as part of their preseason preparations. This summer, Bayern has already lost a superstar with Robert Lewandowski moving to Barcelona. However, they signed former Liverpool favourite, Sadio Mane among others.
