Blackburn Rovers set to seal loan deal for Liverpool starlet Tyler Morton
Liverpool has already been active in the loan market this summer, and Tyler Morton would be the next one to depart Anfield. The 19-year-old played nine times for Jurgen Klopp’s team in the previous campaign, and upon his return from the summer break, easily settled in with the first-team group.
According to the Lancashire Telegraph, Blackburn Rovers would seal a loan deal for Morton in the coming weeks. It represents a significant opportunity for a player who must now build on the promise he showed last season.
On paper, a season-long loan in the Championship would be profitable. The club will hope that the 19-year-old replicates Harvey Elliott’s success at Ewood Park in the 2020/21 season.
However, an exception to this case would be Leighton Clarkson, whose stint at Blackburn was cut short due to a lack of playing time. Although there are opportunities at Anfield, moving to Blackburn will provide the youngster a shot at garnering regular gametime.
It should hopefully be a significant boost to his progress. For a young player, nothing compares to playing week in and week out at the senior level.
There is no denying Morton’s talent. He recently received the praise of Jurgen Klopp for his outstanding training efforts, and last season, he competed successfully in both the Premier League and the Champions League. According to the Liverpool Echo, the German manager said:
“By the way, Tyler Morton in training, incredible! He’s training as an 8, and it’s like ‘wow, how good is that?!’ He’s still here.”
The German manager would have loved to keep the 19-year-old at Anfield as his need may arise if the Reds come up against injuries issues. Thiago Alcantara is prone to injury and so are other midfielders who are all ot getting any younger. However, keeping the player’s development in mind, Klopp is best served letting him move elsewhere.
The fans might get one more glimpse of Tyler Morton wearing a Liverpool jersey if he plays the next match. He might play in the Community Shield match against Manchester City, but could feature against Strasbourg on Sunday at Anfield.
However, if the academy graduate does leave the club now, then there would be a possibility that the club might pursue a new midfielder. Many elite players have been linked with the Reds but few significant names would be in the line for a move.
Although the board are unlikely to go for Jude Bellingham this summer, Sporting CP’s Matheus Nunes would be an ideal option for Jurgen Klopp if he decides to add some fresh legs to his aging midfield.

The Brazilian midfielder would bring technical quality, which Liverpool would crave for since they have only Thiago to fill the slot. Jordan Henderson would prefer to play a box-to-box role, while Fabinho would be more of a defensively minded anchor.
Letting Morton leave on loan while replacing him with Nunes would be nothing short of a massive upgrade.
