Liverpool keeping tabs on Lautaro Martinez as Roberto Firmino’s future remains unclear
According to Italian outlet Calcio Mercato (h/t Liverpool Echo), Liverpool are interested in signing Lautaro Martinez to replace Roberto Firmino.
Martinez has been a crucial player for Inter Milan in recent seasons. The Argentinian has scored 74 goals and 24 assists in 179 appearances across all competitions,an impressive return for a 24-year-old
Martinez recently participated in Finalissima as Argentina defeated Italy by a score of 3-0. He was fantastic that night, scoring a goal and providing one assist to help the South Americans win the championship. He displayed that night why he is highly regarded in the game.
With Roberto Firmino’s future unclear, Liverpool are believed to have identified Martinez as a potential replacement for the Brazilian. Juventus are highly interested in our no. 9 but Liverpool have so far rejected their overtures.
Liverpool’s pursuit of Luis Diaz during the winter transfer window was essential to rejuvenate the depth of the team. The Colombian had a successful few months and had already delivered some unforgettable moments to the Reds fans.
Additionally, the Reds paid a sizable price to sign Darwin Nunez from Benfica this summer. He looked impressive in the Community Shield win over Manchester City and should only get better with time.
Diogo Jota is also in the mix, although he is currently injured. Given the attacking riches at his disposal, any player arriving at Anfield is far from guaranteed regular minutes.

However, it doesn’t appear that the Reds are in need of a new striker at the moment and the Argentinian seems to have reached the stature where he wouldn’t want to be left on the bench.
Replacing Firmino is no mean task, given the attacking intelligence and selfless play he brings to the team. We are better off retaining our Samba star.
