Liverpool starlet Tyler Morton reveals that Elliott and Clarkson convinced him to move to Blackburn Rovers

Liverpool starlet Tyler Morton has revealed that Harvey Elliot and Leighton Clarkson’s positive feedback helped the 19-year-old to move to Ewood road. The academy graduate has completed his season-long loan move to Championship side Blackburn Rovers.

The young midfielder has been a promising talent for Jurgen Klopp since bursting into the scenes at Anfield. Although he made 33 appearances in the Premier League 2, he was able to contribute with eight assists and six goals.

This would have convinced the Liverpool management to provide him with a bigger stage to showcase his talent by handing him senior squad appearances.

Morton featured nine times for Klopp out of which six were from the start. Surprisingly, he even started against tough opponents like Tottenham Hotspur, AC Milan, and FC Porto last season which shows that Klopp has been keeping faith in his star boy.

After Alex Oxlade Chamberlain suffered a serious injury, it was expected that the Reds would prefer to keep the 19-year-old as he would be handy for the team. However, the club decided to keep the youngster’s development at the top of the list.

The academy graduate would be happy to join Blackburn Rovers as it would be the first time he has to move away from Anfield. In a secret reveal, Morton has called out the names of two of his teammates that helped him to accept a loan move to the Championship side.

As quoted by Liverpool Echo, Tyler Morton said:

“Speaking to Harvey and Leighton, they gave a real positive impression about the club and they persuaded me a bit more to come here, not that I needed much persuading. I’ve heard nothing but positivity from them about the place. I want to follow in their footsteps.”

Liverpool starlets Elliot and Clarkson have both overseen loan moves at Blackburn Rovers in the past campaign. The former had a rather inspiring spell at Ewood road as he became a key member of his team and was also nominated for the young player of the season award in the 2020-21 season.

His return to Anfield demonstrated his spectacular improvement as he soon started to make several first-team appearances under the German manager. Clarkson had a decent season with the Championship side but he was called out by the Reds as Klopp wanted to analyse his progress.

The English midfielder will join the long list of young players like Marcelo Pitaluga, Rhys Williams, Conor Bradley, and several others who have left Anfield on a loan move this summer.

Morton would be aiming to have a similar impact by exploring his style of play at Blackburn. This move would help the Community Shield winner to strengthen his midfield play before he can boast his skills in front of the noisy Anfield crowd.
