Liverpool dealt blow as Inter Milan consider midfielder Marcelo Brozovic ‘untouchable’
Liverpool have been dealt a blow in their pursuit of midfielder Marcelo Brozovic. According to transfer guru Fabrizio Romano on CaughtOffside, Inter Milan considers the 29-year-old an ‘untouchable’ member of the squad.
The Croatian star has been one of the Serie A outfit’s key players over the years. The 29-year-old recently signed a new contract extension with the Nerazzurri, keeping him in Milan until 2026.
Inter aren’t keen on selling Brozovic with the Reds in pursuit of the Croatian. Romano reiterated the Italian giant’s willingness to keep a hold of their star midfielder.
“Still, despite some speculation elsewhere, Marcelo Brozovic is untouchable for Inter Milan. The Croatian midfielder extended his contract a few months ago and will not leave.”
Liverpool are without some of their midfield options for the upcoming weeks. A number of our players have picked up an injury and the engine room has been hit the hardest.
Liverpool midfield crisis
Thiago Alcantara is out for a considerable period after picking up a knock during the first game of the Premier League season against Fulham. Curtis Jones, Naby Keita and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain were also sidelined.
The Scouser and Guinean will be back shortly. But the Spaniard and England international are set to be out for a while. This makes reinforcements a necessity.
We do have cover in the middle of the park with youngsters and a veteran. Harvey Elliott replaced Thiago at the Craven Cottage. Fabio Carvalho is also capable of playing in the midfield. James Milner is another option for Klopp.
But we have a long season ahead of us. Liverpool fans will once again want to challenge for all four major titles this season. The World Cup in Qatar will also commence later this year.

The 2020/21 campaign saw the side falter due to injuries to some of our star players. The Reds cannot let the same thing happen again this season. We have important games coming up in the PL in the coming weeks.
