Liverpool backed to complete sensational summer transfer in 2023

Borussia Dortmund star Jude Bellingham expected to join Liverpool in 2023

According to the Daily Mail, long-term Liverpool target, Jude Bellingham is expected to join the Reds in 2023. The 19-year-old has been subject to a move to Anfield for almost two years now. He has been a revelation of sorts in Edin Terzic’s squad since his transfer to the German outfit in 2020.

With his current contract at The Black and Yellows set to expire in 2025, the Reds should be ready to pay a huge amount to compensate for the same. Dortmund apparently values the player for upwards of £100m

. Liverpool need to be prepared to pay what it takes if they are serious.

Comparing Bellingham’s fitness levels to Liverpool’s injury-prone midfielders, the Englishman has just missed three games in over two seasons with Dortmund. The Reds would be currently crying out loud for a player of his ability and the current injury crisis just reinforces that.

With Naby Keita’s contract talks on hold, Liverpool would indeed hope to replace the injury-prone Guinean with someone of Jude’s stature. Furthermore, a consistent performer, it makes Bellingham a cut above the rest of the midfielders in the transfer market.

What now for Liverpool?

If we go on to sign a midfielder this transfer window, it might set us back by a few million to sign Jude next summer. Whether that is why Jurgen Klopp and co are yet to reinforce the midfield remains the question.

The club’s current record signing, including add-ons, is Darwin Nunez worth £85m. In case the Reds sign Jude, it could see the Englishman break that barrier.

Furthermore, Jude’s signing will reduce the average squad age for Liverpool. Jordan Henderson and James Milner are not getting any younger, and the club obviously needs to look at that perspective and take calls for the long-term future.
