“Not going to take advice”- Premier League pundit hits back at Liverpool’s Jurgen Klopp

Gabby Agbonlahor hits back at Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp

Former Aston Villa striker and TalkSPORT pundit Gabby Agbonlahor has responded to the comments made by Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp.

The Liverpool manager blasted the former Aston Villa man for the comments made in the aftermath of Manchester United’s embarrassing defeat to Brentford where he spoke about the “missing mentality” in the United squad.

Speaking in his pre-match presser (h/t Manchester Evening News) before the trip to Old Trafford on Monday night, Klopp came to the defence of Erik Ten Hag and blasted the former Villa man for his comments. He said:

“I watched the first-half and then listened to the radio, talkSPORT. Gabby Agbonlahor, he lost against us 6-0 in my first year.

“I couldn’t remember him as a mentality monster on the pitch. But what he said about United on that show, I was close to calling in and telling him, ‘You have forgotten completely that you have been a player’

Jurgen Klopp is known for his direct responses to issues that do not bode well and on more than one occasion, has defended players and managers against the media scrutiny.

Manchester United fans will be happy to see a rival coach defending the team amidst the scrutiny laid down on them and showing a conscious and concerned side of Jurgen Klopp.

, Gabby Agbonlahor has now responded to the manager’s comments and said:

“I don’t need Jurgen Klopp telling me how to be a pundit, he should concentrate on being a manager. He wouldn’t take advice on being a coach from me, would he? So I’m not going to take advice from him.”

It is pretty daunting to see that the pundit is still not being able to fathom the reasoning behind Klopp’s comments, which basically calls for ex-players to put a stop to their criticisms of clubs and players.

An increase in social media activity has resulted in pundits laying down blunt criticisms to attract more views on their channels. But they do not realise that such comments have a negative impact on the players. As a former one himself, one would think Agbonmlahor has more awareness.

Klopp has no need to take any sort of advice from Agbonlahor. After all, why will a manager who has won it all listen to a player whose claim to fame is the current tiff between the pair.
