“Harmless conversation” – Jurgen Klopp plays down conversation with Manchester United player

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp plays down rift with Bruno Fernandes

Speaking in the post-match press conference as quoted by Metro, Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has played down his conversation with Manchester United star Bruno Fernandes calling the conversation ‘harmless’.

Klopp was seen sharing interaction with Bruno Fernandes after the full-time whistle putting his hands around the Portuguese midfielder’s neck. The pair were seen sharing a conversation and the Liverpool boss was asked about it.

Both Liverpool and Manchester United came into yesterday’s game looking to register their first win of the season and in the end, Erik ten Hag’s men managed to outsmart Liverpool by beating them.

Bruno Fernandes had a conversation with Jurgen Klopp

Manchester United beat Liverpool 2-1 with goals from Jadon Sancho and Marcus Rashford. Liverpool did manage to score one goal late on through Mohamed Salah but it was more a mere consolation.

Klopp revealed that he was talking with Bruno about an incident with Lisandro Martinez but he really played it down.

“It was not animated. It was the most harmless conversation I’ve ever had with a player who was as emotional as I maybe was. “

“It was the situation with the centre half, [Lisandro] Martinez, where we went down for an “awful” tackle, it was obviously nothing, he made a bit of it, and then he was talking to me and saying, ‘you would do the same”

“But it was all fine after the game, he told me he needs these kind of conversations, okay, it’s all fine, use me.”

Liverpool have a lot of work to do. They have started the Premier League campaign on a very poor note, drawing their first two games against Fulham and Crystal Palace before losing last night.

At this point, it does not feel like a blip anymore. The Reds are from the levels expected of them. The midfield is an area of concern for Jurgen Klopp with the trio that he played last night seeming rather ineffective.

Liverpool are not a club known to make impulsive decisions in recent years but there is a feeling that Jurgen Klopp could be looking at a solid midfield option to rejuvenate the existing options.

It’s high time Liverpool pick themselves up. They are falling behind the pecking order in the Premier League. It’s still too early in the season, but the Reds must get back to where they belong real soon.
