Alisson Becker full of praise for Liverpool’s new recruit Arthur Melo and believes he will add a lot to the team
Speaking to the club’s official website ahead of his team’s clash against Napoli in the Uefa Champions League, Brazilian goalkeeper Alisson speaks on the club’s latest arrival and his national teammate, Arthur Melo.
Alisson has spoken highly of the former FC Barcelona man, who joined Liverpool on a season-long loan from Juventus with an option to make the deal permanent.
Asked what the fans can expect from Arthur, Alisson said:
“He’s a really talented player, really top qualities, Brazilian way to play, a player who likes to have the ball.
So I think he brings even more quality to our team and he likes to play the way we play.”
Arthur Melo joined Liverpool from Juventus on a season-long loan from Juventus to solve the present injury crisis at Liverpool and the club has the option to make the deal permanent at the end of the season.
Arthur Melo joined Juventus as part of a swap deal between FC Barcelona and Juventus with Miralem Pjanic moving to the other side. At the time, there was a feeling that Barca were letting go of a promising midfielder who had the capability of being a world-beater.
Fair to say the move did not materialise as any party would have envisaged Arthur Melo falling down the pecking order at Juventus under Massimiliano Allegri and deemed surplus to the needs of the squad.
Although the transfer of Arthur Melo speaks of a panic buy, he might turn out to be good business for Liverpool because of the low liability involved.
If he can adapt himself to the Liverpool set-up, as Alisson predicts, he can very well be part of Jurgen Klopp’s team in the future considering he will be available for £32.4m, a cheaper alternative to other midfield targets.
