Report: Bayern Munich enter the race for Liverpool midfield target

Bayern Munich are interested in Liverpool target Gavi

According to Daily Mail, Bundesliga Giants Bayern Munich have joined the race to sign FC Barcelona’s wonderkid Pablo Gavi, with Liverpool and rivals Manchester United also interested in the player.

Gavi had a breakthrough 2021/22 season, making his debut for the club and becoming a mainstay in the side with 48 appearances. It also led to Gavi making his national team debut for Spain.

The 17-year-old star has one-year remaining on his contract and has a release clause of £42million which has alerted top clubs around Europe.

Gavi has starred in all of the opening games for FC Barcelona in the 22-23 La Liga season and manager Xavi is keen to retain the midfielder’s services.

Gavi alongside the 2021 Golden Boy winner Pedri are two outstanding young talents with immense potential and are considered important bits of Barcelona’s future.

President Joan Laporta has gone on to confirm that Xavi would extend his stay at the club however with no official announcement, it presents an opportunity for other clubs to make a move.

Liverpool are aware that the current midfield is slowly getting away from its prime and would need good reinforcements.

Many speculate Liverpool are touted to go big on Borussia Dortmund’s Jude Bellingham next summer but Gavi also presents a very exciting opportunity for the Reds.
