Potential boost for Liverpool as rival ace could miss crunch PL clash

Arsenal star Gabriel Jesus could miss the Liverpool clash

Liverpool and Arsenal face each other on 9th October. The fixture will be the second for both teams after the international break. The Reds play Brighton on 1st October in their opening game post-national friendlies. Meanwhile, the Gunners will play Tottenham Hotspur in a North London Derby.

According to the Liverpool Echo, Arsenal’s top goal scorer this season in the league with four goals and three assists

, Gabriel Jesus could miss the Liverpool fixture if he picks a yellow card in the Gunners’ game against Spurs. After receiving four yellow cards this season in games against Brentford, Manchester United, Fulham and Bournemouth, he will be subjected to suspension if he receives one more.

This might benefit the Reds in some way. Jesus is in sublime form this season. Moreover, he carries the likelihood of receiving a caution. Being on the receiving end of a yellow card is much more likely than in other cases as it is a derby game and the tensions are always high in such high-octane games.

Jaded Liverpool could avoid Jesus?

Liverpool’s backline is going through a tough period and has come under scrutiny for being a tad bit lethargic in letting opponents by. Especially in the game against Napoli, the goals scored by the Italian outfit seemed easy with both Virgil van Dijk and Trent Alexander-Arnold donning the roles of spectators.

At such times, an in-form player subject to suspension against Liverpool comes well-timed. The pressure on the Reds decreases significantly. Numerous players slated to return to training post the international break is another boost.

Ibrahima Konate is among the defenders who can return to playing after he was sidelined owing to an injury in the preseason. According to gaffer Jurgen Klopp, the French centre-back shall return to training around the international break.

The international break could give the players a much-needed break from the fuss of weekly club football and give them a change. This change could possibly trigger a positive change for Liverpool and the Reds hopefully come back to form sooner than later.
