Liverpool star Arthur Melo undertaking a rigourous training program to get match fit
According to the Daily Mail, Liverpool star Arthur Melo is said to be undertaking a rigourous training program to build up his match fitness and get back to being match fit when the club football resumes after the international break.
Liverpool signed the Brazilian midfielder from Juventus on deadline day in a move that has been received with a lot of scepticism. There are question marks over whether the Bianconeri midfielder has the quality to succeed at a club of the Reds’ stature.
The Brazilian midfielder was once very highly rated during his time at Barcelona but his career has kind of stalled ever since he made the move to Juventus. Arthur Melo has struggled with injuries and poor form ever since.
Arthur was viewed and is still being viewed as a panic signing from Liverpool who have a midfield injury crisis going on at the club and to be honest, there could be some truth to the speculation.
However, it looks like the talented midfielder is very keen on proving his doubters wrong and wants to show Jurgen Klopp what he is capable of. He is apparently training under a rigorous program to get match ready by the time the international break ends.
In that sense, the unexpected break in schedule in the last two weeks which has seen all of Liverpool’s Premier League games postponed could not have come at a better time for the Brazilian midfielder who has a lot of time to train in this break.
It is almost like a mini pre-season for Arthur, and this should do him a world of good. When Liverpool come back from the international break, it is widely expected that the 26-year-old will be ready to start matches for Jurgen Klopp’s side.
Profile-wise, Arthur is the closest option to emulate Thiago Alcantara’s playstyle at Liverpool. Although the Spaniard is of different quality, the Brazilian could do a pretty good job of playing that role in the team.
