Borussia Dortmund seeking around £131.6m for Liverpool target Jude Bellingham
German giants Borussia Dortmund have set their asking price for long-term Liverpool transfer target Jude Bellingham. The Athletic (h/t Liverpool Echo) articulates that the 19-year-old stands valued by Die Schwarzgelben at roughly £131.6m. This is about £30m more than the previously valued £100m. The player has also been linked with a move to Manchester United, Manchester City and Real Madrid.
The Reds’ gaffer Jurgen Klopp is a huge fan of Jude and ideally wanted him on board last summer. The fact that Dortmund sold Erling Haaland to Manchester City took Bellingham’s name off the market. Moreover, Klopp admitted that the only reason why Liverpool did not sign Jude last summer was because of the same reason.
The former Birmingham City midfielder runs out of contract at Dortmund only in 2025. But with a lot of speculation surrounding his departure from Germany next summer, the club will be apprehensive of his situation and could offer him a new contract.
MISSION JUDE FOR 2023
Not very long ago, when prompted about a move back to England, Jude Bellingham dismissed all claims, stating that the sole focus on his mind was delivering week in and week out for Dortmund. The youngster added that he is not “looking past” anything and remains dedicated to the German outfit.
Liverpool have been monitoring the player for long enough now, and given the midfield issues at the club, the Reds should not think twice before signing a player as capable as Bellingham. A number of midfielders at Anfield run out of contract next summer, hence, the Reds should definitely look to sign replacements.
Moreover, James Milner, even with all his contributions to the club, cannot be expected to start every week for Liverpool at 36. Jordan Henderson will be 33 by 2023, and the club certainly needs young midfielders to balance the act out and think of the long-term.
