Jordan Henderson namedrops Suarez and Gerrard as the two best players he played with at Liverpool

Speaking in an exclusive interview with Liverpool Echo, Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson has given his thoughts on the two best players he ever played with at the club.

Henderson has always been vocal about his time at the club and when asked who he considers as the two best players that he has played with at Liverpool, he unabashedly admitted it was club legend Steven Gerrard and Uruguayan striker Luis Suarez.

“Looking back across my whole career I would say that I would have to say Luis Suarez or Steven Gerrard. Both were absolutely sublime players and it would be so hard to pick just one.”

It is hard to disagree with Henderson’s selection. Many would agree that Gerrard and Suarez have been among the best players for Liverpool in the last fifteen years.

Suarez rose to prominence on the world stage with his sublime performances in a Liverpool jersey. He formed a deadly attacking duo with Daniel Sturridge and took the opposition teams by storm.

In his four seasons at the club, he made 133 appearances and scored 82 goals and gave 46 assists, proving he was at that time one of the most potent attackers in the league. If he would have stayed for longer at the club, he could very well have carved a legacy for himself.

Regardless, he made an instantaneous impact during his time at Liverpool, something which is very fondly remembered by all Red’s faithful.

Steven Gerrard presides over the minds of many Reds supporters as one of the Greatest of All Time and definitely can be regarded as a club legend.

He made 710 appearances for the club in which he scored 186 goals and assisted another 153. On top of that, he led the team to the iconic Istanbul night that led to winning the UEFA Champions League.

He is seen with the highest regard at the club and though now he has changed his resume to a manager and is currently at Aston Villa, many speculate the club legend to take over the reins at Anfield one day.
