Football Insider via Liverpool Echo record that Liverpool owners, Fenway Sports Group (FSG) have set aside funds for the January transfer window. Reds’ owner John Henry is ready to spend heavy bucks in the winter to acquire the players the club has identified as the ‘right fit.’
Earlier this summer, the club spent a potential record fee of £85m to secure the services of Darwin Nunez from SL Benfica. Known for the tough modus operandi in transfer negotiations, it rather comes as a surprise to see the owners ready to spend huge money in back-to-back transfer windows.
There has been a lot of interest in midfielders throughout the summer. Hence, it would not come as a huge shocker to see Liverpool move for some of the linked players come January. Jude Bellingham stands out among the names linked with the Merseysiders. A few of the midfielders the club could move for are as follows.
The 19-year-old is the Reds’ top transfer target for a while now. Borussia Dortmund value the player at £131.6m and Liverpool also face competition from Real Madrid in their pursuit of the midfielder. The amount ‘set aside’ may be for Jude given their long-term interest in the player.
The Merseysiders have always been keen to sign 24-year-old Ismael Bennacer who is currently under contract at AC Milan. The player has a lot of experience for his age and could prove to be handy for Liverpool in the near future and beyond. With Liverpool’s current starting midfield ageing, it would be wise for the club to see a move for the Bennacer.
Lastly on this list is RB Leipzig’s 25-year-old Austrian central midfielder Konrad Laimer
. The Reds’ bid for the player was rejected by the German outfit as they did not want to part ways with an important player so late in the transfer window. But the Merseysiders now have an opportunity to get the deal through and see Laimer playing in Liverpool colours.Football journalist Fabrizio Romano revealed that Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah remains the primary target for…
