Liverpool send scouts to watch Colombian starlet Jhon Duran
According to journalist Pipe Sierra (h/t Liverpool Echo), Liverpool have sent scouts to the MLS to scout talented 18-year-old Colombian striker Jhon Duran who plays his football for Chicago Fire.
Sierra, a journalist who provided insights into Liverpool’s pursuit of Luis Diaz in January has claimed that the same scout has been sent to the MLS to scout yet another Colombian wonderkid.
Duran is very highly rated and has been putting up some fantastic numbers for Chicago Fire. The talented young prospect joined the MLS club from Envigado in January and has since then impressed.
Liverpool are not alone in their interest in the talented striker. Chelsea, Lille, Frankfurt and Eindhoven have all been credited with an interest in the Colombian forward and it could be a tough race for the Reds.
American journalist Tom Bogert (h/t Liverpool Echo) has backed up the claims that Sierra has made by revealing that big clubs in Europe are in the race for the teenage sensation and that Chicago Fire are expecting $10m+ offers to come for their prized asset.
Such has been Duran’s ascent to the limelight that he has already won two caps for the national team. If he continues in a similar vein, there is no limit to the heights that he can achieve in European football.
Duran has played 29 times for the American club this season across all competitions, scoring eight goals and providing six assists across all competitions. It is being claimed that one of the big clubs could make a move for the 18-year-old as soon as winter.
Liverpool have managed to sign hidden gems and make them world-class players and this scenario would be no different. Duran appears to have much potential and could make it big for the Reds in the future.

At 18, with the kind of overloaded attack that the Reds have, it will be difficult for Duran to get chances. It remains to be seen how Liverpool plan his development but for that, we must first sign him.
