Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp wants Inter Milan’s Marcelo Brozovic after Arthur Melo ‘dissapointment’
According to Calcio Mercato Web (h/t Liverpool Echo), Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp wants Inter Milan’s Marcelo Brozovic. Moreover, the gaffer is not happy with Arthur Melo’s development at the club and wants a change.
Arthur joined the Reds from Juventus on loan on deadline day. He has had only 13 minutes of action for the first team and was training with the U21 team and played two games for the youth setup. Arthur also did not feature in Liverpool’s matchday squad against Rangers.
Falling out of favour at Juventus as well, Arthur would have hoped to get his career back on track with this loan move, but things are not looking good for the Brazilian as things stand presently.
Brozovic and Liverpool
Marcelo Brozovic is wanted by Klopp. The Inter Milan midfielder plays multiple roles in the midfield. Primarily a defensive midfielder, he can play advanced roles too. It would certainly not be an easy task for Liverpool to lure him out of San Siro as the player recently signed a contract until 2026.
A player of Brozovic’s calibre is an asset for every team. More so for Liverpool, who struggle with inconsistent midfield issues. The only problem is, the Croatian is 29. At that age, there is only so much a player could offer. A long-term midfielder would be a better fit for the Reds.
But statistically speaking, Brozovic has been one of the world’s best in his position. From 299 appearances, he has 30 goals and 37 assists. Even though it is shallow to make of a defensive midfielder from goals and assists, the player has been playing at a consistent level for a long time and has been a vital cog for Inter Milan.
But with that being said, he is not the youngest of midfielders available. Liverpool could look to sign his team-mate at Milan, Nicolo Barella, who offers much more than Brozovic and is also only 25.

With Inter’s financial struggles, the player could be available at a cut price and Liverpool might as well look to bolster their midfield presence. Even though he is 29, there is still some football left in him, but the long-term issue for Liverpool would still stand and they would still need to sign a younger midfielder.
