“We have no fear”- Arsenal defender sends warning to Liverpool ahead of Premier League clash

Takehiro Tomiyasu says Arsenal are confident ahead of the game against Liverpool

Speaking to Evening Standard ahead of the Premier League clash between Liverpool and Arsenal, Arsenal defender Takehiro Tomiyasu has praised the current form of his side and believes the team is ready to beat Liverpool. When asked about the game against the Reds, he said:

“We have no fear. To be fair, the atmosphere of the dressing room is very good. We are confident and we are top of the League. We are ready to beat them.”

Tomiyasu, who joined the club last season from Bologna FC 1909 in Serie A, sounds pretty confident about a young and rapidly developing Arsenal side. A versatile defender who can play as a right-back or a centre-back, he is expected to feature against the Reds.

It would not be wrong to say that Arsenal in the past few seasons have never been brooding with confidence when Liverpool is their next fixture. However, things seemed to have taken a different turn for the Gunners this season, who currently sit atop the league with seven wins out of eight league games so far.

Liverpool, on the contrary, have not started the season as one would have hoped and are more in need of securing a victory when the two sides meet on Sunday.

Injuries, lack of proper pre-season and sudden dip in form for key players are touted as some of the factors which have contributed to the slow start to the season.

We picked up form off late and although the last league game ended in a draw, there was a fighting spirit seen in the squad which led to a spirited comeback before the Seagulls notched one towards the end.

It remains to be seen how Klopp would keep the same form of a pivot in a 4-2-3-1 which brought a spirited performance from the team against Rangers FC or switch to his favourable 4-3-3 formation.

A clean sheet against Rangers would provide confidence to our defence, who would need to be at their absolute best to stop a team filled with talented attackers. It is a very crucial game which has the potential to define our season if things go south as the gap from the top would already reach fourteen points.

If Tomiyasu does start down the right flank for the north Londoners, then he will have the task to mark arguably our best player this season – Luis Diaz.
