Transfer News: Liverpool ‘tipped’ to make a move for Juventus midfielder Adrien Rabiot
According to TuttoJuve (h/t Liverpool Echo), Liverpool have been touted as a ‘likely’ destination for Juventus midfielder Adrien Rabiot. Alongside the Reds, Premier League rivals including Manchester United and Arsenal are also putting in efforts to sign the 27-year-old Frenchman.
Rabiot runs out of contract next summer and is available for suitable clubs as a free agent. The primarily central midfielder, who can also play defensive midfield joined Juventus in 2019 and has been vital to the club ever since scoring 8 goals and 6 assists in 135 appearances for Il Bianconeri.
The former Toulouse player, before his Italy stint played for Ligue 1 giants Paris Saint-Germain playing 227 games for the Parisian club. Earlier in the summer, Liverpool signed Rabiot’s team-mate at Juve Arthur Melo on loan.
The Reds and Rabiot
Liverpool, at the moment, certainly need a midfielder at this point in time. But the question arises, is Rabiot the right fit for the Reds? The player at 27, is in his prime but is struggling to make a case for himself at Juve. He is certainly playing games but is arguably not as impactful as he would aspire to be.
A left-footed player could for sure bring in a new dynamic to Liverpool’s midfield. He is also of a good age profile and can certainly provide a bit of a boost to a position where the Reds have players in their 30s.
PSG’s Sporting Director during Rabiot’s time there has publicly criticised the Frenchman’s lack of dedication and his professionalism towards the club. If Jurgen Klopp is open to having a player known outside the pitch for reasons other than football playing for Liverpool remains to be seen.
The Reds are surely in dire need of addition in this area. Arthur’s long-term injury has really increased the headache and underlined Liverpool’s incompetence in the summer transfer market.

It’s about time our owners and our recruitment pursue a top-quality midfielder and end this drama once and for all. The Reds are harbouring too much deadwood in midfield and there is a lot of compromise being made due to that – the result of which can be seen in the Premier League table.
