“It’s not quite the game”- Reds cult hero claims Manchester City vs Liverpool ‘feels one-sided’

Peter Crouch believes Liverpool versus Manchester City feels like a little one-sided game

Liverpool and Manchester City have been going toe to toe against each other over the past few seasons competing for major honours at home and in Europe. The encounters between the two have been of a high level and have produced several memorable moments.

Jurgen Klopp and Pep Guardiola are regarded as two of the best managers of the generation. Fixtures between their teams has always been a pleasure to watch due to the high intensity and world-class level shown by players.

While champions Manchester City have continued to follow the tradition in the 2022/23 season and are seen as title favourites again, the same thing cannot be said for Liverpool who have had a rather disappointing start to the season.

With two wins out of the first eight league games, Liverpool sits in the tenth position in the league and the title race for us, as confirmed by Klopp, is over for the season.

It will be a different meeting between the two legends of the game with Liverpool struggling badly this season

Speaking to BT Sport (h/t Liverpool Echo), former England and Liverpool forward Peter Crouch has resonated similar views and claims that the coming game between Liverpool and Manchester City does not feel like the games of the past and is a bit one-sided in favour of City.

“It’s not quite the game of the last couple of seasons. Liverpool seem to be suffering at the moment and City seem to be flying, adding Haaland to the mix, it does feel one-sided.”

Crouch is correct with his assessment of both sides with champions City seeming to have taken another level to their game with the inclusion of Erling Haaland, who has already scored a monstrous 20 goals in 13 appearances for the club.

They certainly do look like the part and a well-drilled team that would be the favourites heading into every game. Add Liverpool’s disastrous start to the season and it does feel like the chances of Liverpool getting something out of the game are quite marginal.

With fresh injuries to Luis Diaz, Trent Alexander-Arnold and Joel Matip, Klopp does not have much personnel to rely upon when the in-form Citizens visit Anfield.

Liverpool’s defence has been shaky recently while City has the most potent attack in the league hence it would be sure to say that we would be on the edge of our seats for the majority of the game.

A loss against Arsenal would be detrimental to the squad’s confidence and ideally, none of us would have wanted City to be the next opposition in the league as some leeway in a tough situation such as the current one would have been ideal.

Rest assured, one thing we are sure of is that Klopp would do his level best to fire up the team to secure a positive result ahead of a crucial encounter which requires us to not drop any further points in the league.
