Trent Alexander-Arnold talks about how he will react if he nets the World Cup winner

Speaking exclusively to GQ Magazine, Liverpool right-back Trent Alexander-Arnold spoke about the upcoming World Cup in November and spoke about how he would celebrate if he were to be in the position to score the winning goal for England in the finals of the event.

Currently, Trent sees himself sidelined due to an ankle injury in the 3-2 league loss against Arsenal. The 24-year-old is not a guaranteed starter for England under Gareth Southgate. The Three Lions manager prefers Kieran Trippier and Reece James to start fixtures instead of the scouser.

More recently, Southgate chose and explained his decision

to not include Trent in England’s last fixture before the World Cup against Germany, raising doubts over his inclusion in the squad for Qatar. Moreover, he has featured for The Three Lions only 17 times out of a possible 36 games from his debut back in June 2018.

Speaking of the mega-event later this year, and his team’s chances, he believed that England is the team to beat this year at the World Cup, and spoke about a celebration if he scored the winner for England in the final

“It depends on the timing. If it’s early on, you’ve still got 80-plus minutes, things will happen. You’ve got to give it a bit, but you can’t go too maddish. Last 10 minutes? Shirt’s off, I’m running around.”

Trent for The Three Lions at the World Cup

His Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has Trent’s back and believes that the Scouser is “exceptional” to be left out of any squad. With him out with injury at the moment as well, it will be extremely crucial for him to return to fitness as soon as possible and prove a point to Southgate.

He is one of the best fullbacks in the world in attacking scenarios and there could hardly be anyone better than him at pinging the ball into the box and creating goal-scoring opportunities. But the only place where he has tended to slack off is the defensive aspect of the game.

If he could work on that part of his game, there would be no doubts that Trent would go down as one of the world’s best right-backs of all time.

Hopefully, Trent comes back sooner than later and gets his form right benefitting him, the club and England as well. It would not be a good sign to see one of the world’s best chance creators sit at home during the World Cup.
