Naby Keita returns from injury and takes part in Liverpool team training as Jurgen Klopp gives positive update

Naby Keita has returned from his injury and has taken part in the Liverpool training session. The Guinean has been out of action for the Reds since the Community Shield match against Manchester City.

The 27-year-old played a five-minute cameo against the Sky Blues in the 3-1 victory. However, since then, the midfielder has been on the sidelines. He was only able to make the bench on matchday two against Crystal Palace.

Speaking to the media in a recent interview via Liverpool Echo, Jurgen Klopp confirmed Keita’s return. And the midfielder was spotted on Thursday, 20 October, taking part in the training.

“Naby is now in parts of team training.”

Keita signed for Liverpool in the summer of 2018 from RB Leipzig. And fans had high expectations from the 27-year-old. However, the Guinean has failed to convince supporters of his qualities over the years.

Injuries have often troubled the midfielder during his time on Merseyside. However, in the previous campaign, the Guinean played a prominent role in the team.

Last season, Keita featured 40 times for Liverpool in all competitions. And the midfielder put in decent displays as he scored four goals and provided three assists.

The Reds have had a torrid time with injuries in the current campaign. The middle of the park has especially been hit hard. The likes of Curtis Jones, Alex-Oxlade Chamberlain, Thiago Alcantara and Jordan Henderson have all been sidelined at some point this season.

Fortunately, the midfielders have slowly returned and so have the results for the Reds. We have won the last two games against Manchester City and West Ham with a 1-0 scoreline.
