“One thousand million things can happen”- Pep Guardiola says he has more belief in Liverpool than Jurgen Klopp

Pep Guardiola attempts to patronize Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp with belief comment following Nottingham Forest setback

According to The Express, Manchester City manager, Pep Guardiola has taken a dig at long-time rival and Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp following the latter’s shock loss away to Nottingham Forest.

The two managers are among the best in world football today and lead two English powerhouses who have been at each other’s necks the last few years. They are coming off a hard-fought match at Anfield that Liverpool won 1-0 last week.

The game if anything stroked the flames that exist between the two sides. With Liverpool experiencing a difficult start to the season and experiencing another defeat in the league, Guardiola could not resist the temptation to fire a shot.

Despite the poor start to the season, Guardiola appears to consider Liverpool his biggest rival. It is a fair assessment given how the Reds have frustrated the Catalan and his side for years on multiple fronts.

Klopp had all but dismissed any notion of the Reds challenging for the title and the loss to Forest if anything reinforces that. Guardiola refuses to buy it and jokingly claimed to have more faith in the Merseysiders than Klopp.

“It looks like with my statement I believe more in the Liverpool team than their manager.”

Guardiola has every right to be wary given how Klopp and his men have fought back against the odds in the past. This current crisis might be Klopp’s biggest challenge yet at Anfield but there is no better manager to turn around the tide.

“It’s just 10 fixtures gone, the World Cup in the middle and a lot of games to play, Europe involved and cup competitions involved, injuries involved. I said before when we have six or seven games left, yes. When it is just 10 games, one thousand million things can happen.”

The season has seen us suffer much but there is still a long way to go. With a mini-break enforced from the World Cup to come, several Reds players who are out of form or injured will have time to get back to speed. There could yet be many twists and turns in the tale in the months to come.
