FA fine Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp £30,000 for Manchester City red card; no touchline ban

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has been fined £30,000 for his bust-up with the linesman during the Manchester City fixture. Anthony Taylor had brandished the red card for the German’s behaviour in the 86th minute at Anfield.

Klopp lost his cool after an evident foul on Mohamed Salah was not called by the referee. Bernardo Silva pulled down the Egyptian. However, no action was taken, which angered the German boss.

A statement by the Football Association via Liverpool Echo informed people of the action taken against the Liverpool head coach.

“Jurgen Klopp has been fined £30,000 for breaching FA Rule E3 during Liverpool FC’s Premier League match against Manchester City FC on Sunday 16 October 2022.”

Fortunately, for the Merseyside outfit, the punishment does not include a touchline ban. Klopp’s energy seems to transmit to everyone inside the stadium. Thus, fans are glad to know he will not be barred from the dugout.

Against the Sky Blues, the Merseyside club managed an impressive 1-0 victory. Salah got on the scoresheet in the 76th minute after embarrassing Joao Cancelo and putting the ball past Ederson.

Liverpool have not had the best of seasons up until now. In the current campaign, the Reds have failed to win any of their away games in the Premier League. As a result, we currently sit eighth in the table, 12 points off table-toppers Arsenal.

Most of our top players, like Trent Alexander-Arnold, Virgil van Dijk, Fabinho and Salah, have underperformed. And we have evidently lost our edge to pressurise the opposition constantly.

Since the City game, Liverpool have had mixed performances. While we managed to get past West Ham United, the team faltered away from home against Nottingham Forest. The Red managed to win their previous fixture against Ajax, though.
