Alisson Becker pleased with his stupendous form for Liverpool this season
According to Sky Sports, Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson Becker has opened up on his brilliant form for the club this season.
The Brazilian international enjoyed a fine 2021-22 campaign as the Reds chased an unlikely quadruple. Despite falling short within touching distance, Alisson has not let the disappointment affect him.
He continues to be a dependable last line of defence and is among our standout players this season. Given how several others have looked jaded or woefully off form, the 31-year-old has proven to be a consistent performer. After all, the numbers don’t lie.
“The numbers never lie.”
Alisson has prevented 6.56 goals this season. It is the most of any shot-stopper in the Premier League and something that could prove pivotal come the end of the campaign. It also makes the attackers’ jobs easier, knowing they have a colossus in goal behind them.
The Brazilian is happy with his performances and believes that the statistics speak for themselves. Hopefully, the numbers will not have to be so impressive and the players ahead of him on the field will step up and make themselves counted.
“I don’t believe you have to rely on statistics to know if you are performing well or not, but they are a good sign and a good indication of the way you have to follow.”
Always the team player, Alisson has played down his performances and claimed that his teammates have done their jobs, making his life easier. While they can certainly do better, the Brazilian recognizes that they are all in it together.
“Even if the team is not performing at the very best, the fact that I’m doing this is because I have help. I cannot do things alone on the pitch. The players are trying, they are fighting together with me.”
Hopefully, the rest of the Liverpool players will benefit from the World Cup break and come back strong. Anything less than a top-four finish will not do for Jurgen Klopp and co.
