Liverpool star Ibrahima Konate reveals he is now fine following recovery from injury

Speaking in an interview as quoted by Liverpool Echo, Liverpool centre-back Ibrahima Konate has opened up on his injury troubles and insisted that he feels fine now having returned to football after more than two months out.

Konate’s return has helped Liverpool a lot with the French defender seamlessly slotting in alongside Virgil van Dijk. The former RB Leipzig man picked up an injury towards the end of the pre-season that kept him out for a very long time.

The 23-year-old France international had a colossal showing against Tottenham Hotspur in the 2-1 win this weekend and Klopp will have been hoping that he had Konate available for selection earlier this campaign.

Liverpool have been struggling defensively this season and have conceded several goals and Konate could just be the solution to help the Reds become more solid in defence and help the team for the rest of the season.

With just a couple of games to go before the mid-season break for the World Cup, Konate will be hoping to continue his good form for the Reds and try and sneak a spot in the France squad for the showpiece event.

Speaking about his injury issues and coming back from it, Konate did admit that he was feeling okay now.

“I’m very, very happy. I was injured for two months, a little bit more, and now I am back. I am happy because we have won. We have to keep going like that and work again because the season is long”

In Konate’s absence, Liverpool have turned to Joe Gomez and on the rare occasion to Nat Phillips to fill in at centre-back. As good as Gomez can be, he is nowhere near the level of Konate right now and that really shows.

Liverpool’s biggest worry will be to keep the Frenchman fit. We don’t know if he will travel to the World Cup yet, but if he does not, this break would be more than sufficient for the Reds to get Konate completely fit and ready.

If the Reds are to challenge for any trophies this season, a fit Konate is a necessity for Liverpool. Let’s hope they manage to find a way to ensure that.
