Liverpool handed boost in pursuit of Jude Bellingham as the teenager is not interested in Chelsea move
Jude Bellingham is Liverpool’s top transfer target for this summer. The 19-year-old, ever since his move to Bundesliga giants Borussia Dortmund has been on the Reds’ radar. New news emerges that the Reds will get a major boost in their pursuit of the midfielder.
Alongside the Reds, Manchester United, Chelsea and Real Madrid showed interest in the player. However, according to TEAMtalk (h/t Manchester Evening News), the former Birmingham City midfielder is no longer interested in a move to West London, and the idea of playing for Graham Potter’s side does not excite him.
That leaves Erik ten Hag’s side and Los Blancos in the race alongside Liverpool to try and get hold of Bellingham, who sees himself valued at £131m by Dortmund. His contract at the Bundesliga club expires in 2025 (Transfermarkt).
Liverpool have been extremely inconsistent in their performances this season. One can attribute this to extremely sloppy performances by the Reds’ midfielders, especially Fabinho, who has not been at the same level this season.
On top of that, frequent injury issues to the Reds’ midfielders meant that gaffer Jurgen Klopp did not have a constant set of players to pick from. Moreover, Liverpool also have to tackle the issue of their average squad age, which is among the oldest in the English top tier.
Jude to Liverpool?
The signing of Jude will obviously help tackle multiple issues that the Reds face. A proven European standard player of his calibre will certainly make sure that Liverpool will perform strongly on the pitch as well. But obviously, signing the player won’t come easy for the Reds.
With one less rival in the race to sign Jude, Liverpool will hope to get the deal over as soon as possible so that the player does not move elsewhere.
Apart from Jude, Ismael Bennacer and Konrad Laimer also emerge as potential transfer targets for the Reds in case they fail in their pursuit of Bellingham. At this point, the Reds fans will take any midfielder who is of a proper age profile and has a good fitness record.

Signing Bellingham will be a dream scenario – a situation many Liverpool fans would be sacred to even envisage given how frugal we have been in recent transfer windows if we can’t offload players to raise money for signings.
