“The situation is completely different”- Jurgen Klopp rubbishes Chelsea comparison and commits to Liverpool amid owner uncertainty

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp reaffirms his commitment to the club amid the speculation surrounding new investment

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has given his thoughts on the prevailing ownership situation at Liverpool. This comes after Reds’ fans were given a pleasant surprise at the start of the week with news of Fenway Sports Group (FSG) willing to sell stakes in order to generate new investment.

It is still unclear whether the owners are looking to generate additional investment or sell the club in its entirety. Klopp while speaking to BBC Sport was asked whether the change in ownership would directly have any impact on the German’s future at Anfield and the German replied that he is fully committed to the club in spite of the off field developments.

“What I read is that they are looking for investment.

I have a great relationship with FSG. I really like how it works but if it does change, I am committed to the club and that is nothing to do with the people here.”

It has been recognised from a while that Liverpool are somewhat behind their rivals in terms of the financial investment made every year and the proposed move would definitely manage the manager for his team, which is crying out loud for reinforcements.

Klopp was asked whether the speculated move would result in a stimulus as what happened with Chelsea, with a change of ownership resulting in the manager getting the sack and the team truly going through a transition.

Klopp admits that although the seeked investment will bring a change to the club but not on the scale as faced by their Premier League rival and hence the situation would be completely different.

“Chelsea had to get sold because the owner was in trouble and there was urgency in the situation. We don’t have that here at all.”

Liverpool have been one of the most stable teams over the past few years. Albeit this season’s crisis, Klopp has made use of every inch of the investment made in the team over his tenure.

With a possibility that new investment could possibly allow us to spend more on projected targets, the deal only reeks of an upside for the club.

The confusion regarding the complications of the deal would be cleared soon but rest assured, there would only be added benefits for Klopp and the team if the speculated investment goes through.
