Liverpool youngster Harvey Elliott speaks highly of goalkeeper Alisson Becker after Southampton game

Two of Liverpool’s best players in the Reds’ 3-1 win over Southampton were Harvey Elliott and Alisson Becker. The 19-year-old youngster was extremely good in the game, assisting one of Darwin Nunez’s two goals as well.

The Brazilian on the other hand, was key to Liverpool restricting the visitors to only one goal on the day. Ali, on multiple occasions during his time at Merseyside, and especially this season has been key to the Reds winning games and the fixture against The Saints was no different as well.

Both these players have been vital in Liverpool’s performances this season and the league campaign for Liverpool now seems to have taken off to a certain extent after their sluggish start wherein they lost games to a few teams in the relegation zone as well.

Before this game, Alisson shaved off his iconic beard which left the fans wondering what could have been the reason for the same. However, speaking of that and Ali’s form in goal, here is what Harvey had to say via Liverpool Echo:

“I think he’s going to have to shave his beard every game now! So many times he has kept us in the game and it’s nothing new from Alisson, to be honest.”

He’s an unbelievable ’keeper as well as an unbelievable human being, so we’re all very proud of him. For us he’s the best goalkeeper in the world…”

“…I wish him all the best in the World Cup.

So much for Harvey to say, and yet, the words fall short to praise Alisson. The former AS Roma keeper has been on another tangent for Liverpool this season and has constantly played a level over the rest of his teammates have been playing this year.

With the midfield and defence not in the best of forms, Ali has had to put in a shift for their faltering as well and has managed to keep Liverpool in the top half of the table with his incredible performances.

Elliott too, has been extremely efficient in transition and has shown a lot of maturity for his age. In 22 appearances across all competitions this season, he has three goals and an assist. Moreover, he has the most minutes for a teenager this season in the Premier League.

Speaking of Ali, the shot-stopper is a part of Tite’s Brazilian squad for the World Cup later this month and will play a huge role in his national team’s pursuit of the trophy.

Harvey, on the other hand, will fly to Dubai for a mid-season training camp and friendly matches against AC Milan in Dubai later this month with other players who would not be a part of the World Cup.

He is a star in the making and hopefully, he can continue his good run of form for us when club football returns. We wouldn’t have hoped to be seeing someone as young as him playing so regularly for us but he has made the most of the opportunities that have come his way and is now an important part of Liverpool’s first-team set-up.
