Chelsea and Manchester United now enter race alongside Liverpool for Youssoufa Moukoko
Spanish outlet Fichajes via Liverpool Echo report that alongside Liverpool, the latest teams to enter the race for Borussia Dortmund’s Youssoufa Moukoko are Chelsea and Manchester United.
The 17-year-old runs out of contract with his club next summer (Transfermarkt), and hence, multiple teams are in the foray to secure his services.
Since the upcoming January transfer window could be Dortmund’s last opportunity to cash in on the player, it is natural that they would also look to sell him at the right, or rather best price. Apparently, they value the German at £25m.
The fact that Roberto Firmino is also ageing and Liverpool will look to sign a long-term replacement for the Brazilian makes Moukoko a viable target for the Reds. In 59 appearances for the Bundesliga giants, the German has 11 goals and eight assists.
With the latest revelation that the Reds’ Premier League rivals are now looking to sign the Dortmund academy graduate, Liverpool should certainly be on their toes if they actually wish to get Moukoko on their books.
Chelsea’s situation in terms of strikers is general knowledge. Their summer signing Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has not been firing on all cylinders and Graham Potter could be eager to add someone new to their roster. The 33-year-old Gabonese was surely never meant to be a long-term addition to the team.
Teenage Sensation Moukoko up for a big move
Moreover, Manchester City, Paris Saint-Germain and Barcelona are also said to be showing interest and keeping an eye on Moukoko’s situation. It is clear that the Reds will not have a free run in their pursuit of the striker, and hence, need to move swiftly in terms of negotiations and other technicalities in order to oversee the transfer.
From a Liverpool perspective in terms of squad depth though, with the signing of Darwin Nunez and the presence of Diogo Jota, there seems to be just the right amount of firepower in the team in terms of the centre-forward position. Although not an immediate requirement, adding depth could never be hurtful for an injury-prone squad like ours.

His Dortmund team-mate, Jude Bellingham is also a Liverpool transfer target, and a much more required one given the midfield situation at the Reds for the last few weeks or so.
