Fabrizio Romano claims Liverpool target Marcus Thuram could leave in the summer
Speaking in his column with Caught Offside as quoted by Liverpool Echo, popular Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano has claimed that Liverpool target Marcus Thuram could leave Borussia Monchengladbach in the summer.
The French striker has been linked with the Reds for quite some time now. He has been at the Bundesliga club since 2019 and has had a rather decent time despite suffering from injuries constantly.
This season in particular, Thuram has had a very impressive record in front of goal and has been one of the best players in the Bundesliga. In 17 games for the club across all competitions, the 25-year-old has scored 13 goals and provided four assists.
Such have been his performances this campaign that Didier Deschamps has named the French striker as one of the late additions to the Les Blues squad for the World Cup in Qatar in 2022 just yesterday.
Thuram has already won four caps for the national team till now and will be hoping to add to it in Qatar. It is very difficult for him to get game time in such a star-studded attack but he needs to take every small opportunity he gets.
Thuram has a contract with the German club until 2023 (Transfermarkt) and he is yet to sign a new deal with the club. Romano claims that there is a very good chance for the Frenchman to leave on a free transfer.
A number of clubs are said to be monitoring the situation when it comes to the French striker who will definitely be a solid acquisition on a free transfer. However, his injury record will put potential suitors in a bit of a dilemma.
The World Cup is a very good opportunity for Thuram to show what he is capable of. If he does get an opportunity, he will be hoping to carry his club form into the national circuit and contiue banging goals for fun.
