MLS club manager makes a curious observation about Jurgen Klopp vs Leeds

Liverpool’s unbeaten streak in the league at home came to an end earlier this season with Leeds United getting the better of the Reds in a close 2-1 thriller. The visitors took the few chances that came their way very well and walked away with three points from Anfield.

One of Leeds’ top performers on the day was midfielder Brenden Aaronson. The American international kept close control of the ball and made key passes in the midfield from a creative perspective.

Via USMNT journalist Tom Bogert’s Twitter, MLS club Philadelphia Union head coach Jim Curtin had a few words on Liverpool’s manager and noticed Jurgen Klopp’s actions on the touchline whenever Aaronson was on the ball and here is what he had to say.

“To watch Aaronson play against Liverpool, you could tell by Jurgen Klopp’s body language every time Brenden did anything— Look, I wouldn’t be shocked if he’s interested in that kid after how he played against him.”

The attacking midfielder, who can also play on the left flank is a versatile player who can also put in a shift in central midfield. He has played multiple roles for Salzburg, scoring 13 goals and getting 15 assists for the Austrian club in 66 appearances across all competitions.

Is Aaronson the answer for Klopp?

With 8 games in the UEFA Champions League, he would not be completely new to the top-tier of continental football in Europe. Both of his assists in the competition have come against Bayern Munich, which talks about his performances in big games.

At merely 22, the player has a long future ahead of him. A Liverpool move though, even in the case that it doesn’t seem the most likely of all outcomes, suits both parties. A young midfielder is what the Reds need and Aaronson would also fancy the opportunity of playing for a top European club.

Presently, his focus would naturally be on his national team, representing the USA in the World Cup in Qatar. Whether he moves to Liverpool or not, is something only time will tell.
