Liverpool superstar Virgil van Dijk chooses Argentina’s Lionel Messi over Cristiano Ronaldo as the greatest player of all time
Liverpool superstar Virgil van Dijk, while speaking to Pitchside was asked to choose between Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi and although the player claimed that both are great players of the player, he sided with Messi as his answer.
Van Dijk has been in Qatar and will captain his nation in the FIFA World Cup and would hope that his side does well after having failed to qualify for the 2018 FIFA World Cup.
The Dutch superstar has had an average season till now with the player himself admitting that his form has not been up to the standard set for Liverpool.
He is joined by other key players in the team who have had a drop in form and Liverpool are well out of the title race before December and the only objective in the league this season is now top four qualifications.
He would be looking to build on good form with the national side and continue the team for the club once the second half of the season resumes.
With former manager Louis van Gaal taking over the reins again, the team does look revitalised with the likes of Frenkie de Jong, Jurrien Timber, Nathan Ake and Denzel Dumfries all solid players to work with.
It will be interesting to see how the new-look Dutch side fare at the World Cup, after an absence of eight years and cope against other good teams in the tournament.
