Liverpool face threat from two Premier League rivals for Bundesliga ace

Chelsea and Manchester United join Liverpool in the race to land Youssoufa Moukoko

Liverpool’s other transfer target from Borussia Dortmund apart from the obvious Jude Bellingham is 18-year-old German striker Youssoufa Moukoko. Other Premier League clubs including the likes of Manchester United and Chelsea also show interest in the player.

Moukoko has been excellent in Edin Terzić’s side this season and has a total of six goals and as many assists in 22 appearances across all competitions. More recently, the player saw himself in the thick of things for the German National Team in Qatar as well, wherein Joachim Low’s side faced a shock group stage elimination.

As far as his contract situation is concerned, Moukoko will become a free agent in the coming summer (Transfermarkt

), and prospective buyers can secure his signature for free. Talks for a new contract are brewing but Moukoko’s entourage will disagree with any offer of less than £6m per year.

Times claims that any team interested in the player, especially the trio from the Premier League will have to promise the teenager sufficient game-time, and also added that Moukoko demands to not be “a bench option” and instead start games.

Following the contract termination of Cristiano Ronaldo, United could be somewhere he gets fairly decent game time as they would want to build a team for the future, with a lot of youngsters in the scene.

Liverpool’s rivals show interest in Moukoko

As far as Chelsea are concerned, they would look to replace Armando Broja with Moukoko as the Armenian striker tore his ACL in a mid-season friendly against Aston Villa. Both players could challenge one another for a spot in the starting XI, as the only other striker at Chelsea, Pierre Emerick-Aubameyang is ageing, and is not a future prospect.

And speaking mainly of Liverpool, Moukoko’s addition could be a great prospect for the Reds. With the injury situations of Luis Diaz and Diogo Jota, attacking options at the club seem scarce.

Moreover, Roberto Fimino runs out of contract next summer as well, and we all know what he produced for the club after signing from the Bundesliga, and we could hope for the same from Moukoko in case he signs for us.

There is absolutely no harm in having Moukoko on board, but once Jota and Diaz make their way back, they would obviously start over the German simply due to the sheer brilliance they have shown for the club in the past. Hence, any decision taken should be extremely thought of, and in the best interests of Liverpool’s long-term future.
