According to transfer news La Republicca (h/t Liverpool Echo), Tottenham Hotspur have accelerated their interest in Morocco star Sofyan Ambrabat, who has also been linked with Liverpool recently.
Amrabat was part of a sensational Morocco team which impressed everyone at the FIFA World Cup and reached the tournament semi-finals where they eventually lost to reigning champions France.
Amrabat was at the heart of the midfield, dominated many top-class players while coming up against them, and arguably is one of the standout performers of the tournament.
Currently, the 26-year-old player is plying his trade for Serie A side Fiorentina however his latest exploits at the tournament have not gone unnoticed and many top sides, including Liverpool, have registered their interest.
His current contract expires in June 2024 (Transfermarkt), which provides an opportunity for the interested clubs to start a bidding war as Fiorentina would likely accept a fee if it is seen as reasonable, considering the talent could leave for free the following year.
Now, it seems like Antonio Conte and Fabio Paratici have accelerated their efforts in pursuit of the Moroccan star and could approach his club in the coming windows for a transfer.
Hence, if we are interested in the player’s profile there is really not much time that could be wasted taking into account the red-hot form the player is in, which would attract the interest of many parties.
We desperately need fresher legs in midfield considering Jordan Henderson, James Milner and Thiago are all past thirty. Moreover, Fabinho Tavares’ form has disappointed a lot this campaign.
Amrabat would definitely provide steel and composure to our midfield and allow the attacking players to play with more freedom. It would also provide us with a good quality depth which is of utmost need in the league if a team has to succeed in the league.
It will be interesting to see whether Liverpool accelerate their interest in the player following the news of Tottenham increasing their interest in the player.
