“He’ll be top”- Liverpool veteran heaps praise on blockbuster summer signing

James Milner raves about Liverpool star Darwin Nunez

After enduring a tough start to his life in the Premier League, Liverpool striker Darwin Nunez started to find his feet at the club just a few weeks prior to the halt in the proceedings for the International Break.

In 18 appearances across competitions for the Reds, Darwin has nine goals and two assists and would hope to add to that number on the 22nd of December when Liverpool face Manchester City in the EFL Cup Fourth Round game.

Even with the fact that he is not the most technical of players in the team, Darwin’s gameplay has been effective and he has seen himself in multiple goal-scoring opportunities, and the goals will eventually find their way as well.

He obviously has the support of his teammates coming into a new league, speaking a new language and all of that and James Milner certainly has his back. Speaking on Amazon Prime’s YouTube channel, here is what Liverpool’s vice-captain had to say about Darwin:

“He’s got everything to score a lot of goals at Liverpool,”

“It’s a new country, he can’t speak too much English yet, but he’s got great banter and he’s learning the language, he’s a great lad.

“People underestimate how difficult it is to move your whole family, it’s different food, different language, different weather. The Premier League is completely different, it’s a big step and it takes time.

“His attributes he has, finishing with both feet, in the air, works his nuts off, he’ll be top – no doubt about that.”

Luis Diaz has spoiled a major chunk of Liverpool fans by coming into the league and taking it by storm from the get-go. Not everyone is a Lucho, and Darwin took his own time to adjust to the nitty-gritty of the English Premiership and is showing promising signs.

A Reds’ star in the making

Post returning from a below-average outing for him in the World Cup for Uruguay personally, Darwin would hope to come back to the daily life of club football and prove a point or two to the people who criticise him only for being a Liverpool player.

It is good for Liverpool for Nunez to take his time to settle at the club and fully integrate into the team instead of trying too hard and failing much more in the process. He is an extremely talented player, who for sure will make a mark for the Reds in the coming days.

Overall, the 23-year-old has all it takes to establish himself in the Liverpool Football Folklore, but it comes down to how well he takes his chances, as talent can only get you so far. After that point, it is about how much one wants to make an impression.
