Chelsea willing to fork out €90m for Liverpool’s South American transfer target

Chelsea willing to splash the cash for Liverpool target Moises Caicedo

According to Fichajes (h/t Liverpool Echo), Premier League rivals Chelsea are willing to splash the cash for Liverpool target Moises Caicedo and could offer the Reds a tough fight.

Caicedo has been linked with a move to Merseyside for quite some time now. The Ecuadorian has been touted as an option for Jurgen Klopp to reinforce his midfield but the Reds could have competition.

Apparently, Graham Potter has earmarked a player he has formerly coached at Brighton as the perfect option to replace the likes of Jorginho and N’Golo Kante who could leave London in the summer.

Caicedo has had a very impressive Premier League season until now with Brighton and showed what he is all about with Ecuador at the World Cup in Qatar that just concluded. Those performances surely would have raised his transfer fees by quite a bit.

That Liverpool need a midfield revamp is no secret any longer. The Reds have been criticized quite a bit for the lack of quality in their midfield and could be looking to sign one if not two quality midfielders to their squad.

However, with respect to Caicedo, it might not be easy for the Reds. Chelsea are apparently willing to pay as much as €90million to land the talented Brighton midfielder and it remains to be seen if we match that amount.

Even if we are willing to match the amount that Chelsea pay, we might have a bit of an issue convincing Caicedo. The presence of Graham Potter at Stamford Bridge might tempt the Ecuadorian to go there.

Caicedo is not the only player linked with Liverpool though. Other World Cup stars like Enzo Fernandez and Jude Bellingham have also been linked with a move to Anfield and missing out on the Brighton man might not be the end of the world.
